In January 2024. Prime Technologies became the official representative of Sumitomo, a renowned Japanese manufacturer of earthmoving and road construction equipment. The Sumitomo range of excavators and asphalt pavers is an excellent addition to the Bulgarian company’s portfolio, which includes top brands such as Yanmar and Metso. Thanks to the new Japanese brand, Prime Technologies are able to meet their customers’ needs for different types of machines that can work together on construction sites and quarries to an even greater extent.

For Europe, Sumitomo manufactures ten models of crawler excavators of operating weights from 9 t to 52 t, to which an 80-tonne machine will soon be available. They perfectly complement Yanmar’s range of mini and compact excavators with operating weights from 1 t to 10 t, which are very popular in Bulgaria. Thus, Prime Technologies has a complete range of crawler excavators from 1 t to 80 t.
On the other hand, the larger models in the Sumitomo range combine optimally with the Metso mobile crushing and screening plants, which are preferred for quarry work in Bulgaria. There are also great prospects for the two Sumitomo asphalt paver models (crawler and wheeled), as Bulgarian aggregate producers very often have asphalt plants and equipment for road and street construction and repair.
Japanese technology and innovation
The Sumitomo crawler excavators of the current seventh series are high-tech machines that impress with high productivity, fuel efficiency, reliability, durability, operator comfort and easy servicing. Sumitomo’s engineers rely exclusively on Isuzu diesel engines, with only the lightest excavator equipped with Yanmar. Both brands of diesel engines feature high performance and fuel efficiency, as well as state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment systems for compliance with EU Stage V requirements.
To achieve the desired high performance and efficiency, the super-modern SHIS Alpha hydraulic system makes the greatest difference. The intelligent technology delivers only as much hydraulic power as is required for maximum efficiency. And with the new electronic control, the hydraulic system offers the highest performance depending on the selected operating mode.
The Japanese standard in asphalting
For Europe, Sumitomo manufactures two versatile asphalt paver models – one wheeled and one tracked – equipped with Yanmar diesel engines. These machines use the unique J-Paver screed, which can be hydraulically expanded from 2.3 m to 6 m without the addition of mechanical extensions. With this system, customers can save up to 50% on preparation and working time, as the width of the screed can be varied without the need to stop the paving process and install or remove extensions.
When it is necessary to asphalt small streets, bike paths and the like, Prime Technologies also offers the Japanese Hanta mini asphalt pavers with working widths from 1.4 m to 3.2 m (wheeled) and 1 m to 6 m (tracked), respectively.
Easy servicing and maintenance
Sumitomo excavators and asphalt pavers feature low operating costs thanks to long service intervals and minimal downtime for servicing. Daily inspections and maintenance can be carried out quite conveniently by operators from the ground. And the high level of after-sales service is taken care of by the highly qualified service specialists of Prime Technologies, based in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Veliko Tarnovo, who were trained on the Sumitomo excavators in October 2024. For the fastest possible response, most used spare parts and consumables for the offered machines are kept available on stock.
